When is Birmingham Pride?
Birmingham Pride usually takes place over the long May Bank Holiday Weekend. The 2024 date for Birmingham Pride will take place 25 May 2024 – 26 May 2024.
Where is Birmingham Pride?
The carnival festivities will occur in Birmingham’s Gay Village, which is centred on the cosmopolitan Hurst Street. It is a district that is very vibrant, filled with cute cafes, late night pubs, bars, and awesome restaurants. The Birmingham Pride Parade will kick off in Victoria Square.
What is Birmingham Pride?
Birmingham Pride is the biggest 2-day LGBTQI celebration in the UK. Birmingham Pride is an annual celebration of love that knows no bounds, an LGBTQI rights protest and celebration of sexuality. Every year Birmingham Pride attracts about 75,000 people who come to celebrate.
The carnival is more than just a celebration, it is also about educating people on social issues that affect the LGBTQ community and boosting the local economy. Even today in 2019 the LGBT+ community still faces persecution and oppression and teen suicide continues to be a big problem, it is the time to ‘Love Out Loud’!
It does not matter what your sexuality is or your gender, colour, religion or race, everyone is welcome to join in at Birmingham Pride. This year in 2024 it will be the 27th anniversary of Birmingham Pride. People from all over the UK head to Birmingham to celebrate Pride and it contributes around £30 million to the local economy.

How do they celebrate Birmingham Pride?
Birmingham Pride is all about dressing up, partying, dancing, partying, being wild and feeling the unity that this celebration embraces. The main attraction of Birmingham Pride is the incredible Carnival Parade.
The carnival will also have loads of entertainment stages set up that will have loads of live music shows and entertainment. There is also the Fun Fair filled with shops and food and drink vendors. There is also an epic street party around Hurst Street. Additionally all the local Gay Bars and Clubs also host awesome events during carnival.
Birmingham Pride Carnival Parade
Birmingham Pride is the time of year when the LGBTQI community puts on a dazzling spectacle of colour and glitter that captures imaginations. There is an explosion of feathers, body glitter, sequined outfits, leather outfits and rainbow colours. Big crowds pack the sidewalk waving rainbow flags.
Over 5000 people participate in the parade, representing more than 150 LGBTQ groups and organisations. Over 75,000 spectators pack the streets of Birmingham to watch the parade. Everyone is in a good mood and there is lots of revelry all up and down the parade route.
What the wear to Birmingham Pride?
You don’t have to dress up to attend Birmingham Pride, but you will find that lots of people do and that anything goes! You will see superheros, villains, drag queens, angels, devils, lots of cross dressing and plenty of other wild outfits.
If you don’t dress up it’s not a problem lots of people don’t go all out but will wear something a little sparkly. You will also see lots of bright coloured or rainbow outfits or accessories or just wave the iconic gay rainbow flag.
How to get to Birmingham?
It is very easy to get to Birmingham; it is a well-connected city. There are bus, coach and train services to most major towns in the country. Birmingham sits in between London and Manchester, it is about a 1.5 hour drive from both. You can also fly to Birmingham Airport.
